Have you ever thought of how you might survive in the event of a zombie apocalypse? Or, what if there is a worldwide outbreak of a deadly virus? In our industrialized society, we’ve become so accustomed to modern conveniences from power to food processors, it’s hard to comprehend how we might survive without any of these contemporary comforts. Our ancestors lived off the land, but few of us can do so today. However, it doesn’t hurt to learn how to be prepared in the event of a natural disaster or something else. To help you, we’ve created a list of the top five survival apps below.
1. SAS Survival Guide App
This is an award-winning survival app created by a former special air service soldier and instructor John Wiseman. When you open the app, you’ll notice videos, images and Wiseman’s best-selling book (over 400 pages). You also get a checklist, a quiz and more. You just can’t go wrong with this survival app in hand. And the good news is, you don’t need an Internet connection to use it! Moreover, you can use your earphone jack to listen to the videos while out and about.
2. First Aid By American Red Cross
If you’re out in the wild with no sign of civilization for miles away, you might need to have some basic knowledge of first aid. With the American Red Cross app, you get data you can use in emergency situations. It also comes with example videos and step-by-step instructions. What makes it a must have is there is even a ‘prepare’ icon that appears to be designed with survivalists in mind.
3. Weatherbug
There’s a reason we look at the weather forecast– if not, how do we know how to dress or whether or not we need to carry an umbrella for the day? But, what if your satellite TV goes down or you’re in your car on a road trip, and all of a sudden the sky turns black? Well, this app will quickly let you know of anywhere their alerts in your local area. In addition, it comes with location specific push notification alerts, enhanced interactive maps and real-time data.
4. Trapster
Let’s hope this never happens, but what if the world is in chaos and every one is a target? That really does sound like a zombie apocalypse, doesn’t it? Thankfully, you still have your car for transportation. But, you have no idea what’s ahead. With the Trapster app, you’ll get notifications of police speed traps, cameras, road hazards and more. That way you can survive even longer.
5. Edible Vegetation
If youno longer have a home, or a refrigerator, you still have to find sources of sustenance. When that happens, you can use the Edible Vegetation app. This is an SD card friendly wilderness survival app for anyone who might find themselves in a survival situation. It is 100% based off the edible plant selection of the United States Army survival guide. You get a picture image of each plant, as well as its identifiable characteristics. It is also organized and fully downloadable, so that you won’t starve in any way shape or form. Just make sure your charger is plugged into your Micro USB port!
Luckily, we live in a comfortable day and age with many more conveniences than history has ever known. The average individual of today lives better and lives longer than the kings and queens of antiquity. But, that doesn’t mean things aren’t subject to change. And, if they do, you’ll be ready with these five apps.
So, how do you plan on using these apps? Which ones would you find most useful? Please share your thoughts with us in the comments section below!
